Sarah Matheson and her dogs on a sofa

I’m currently owned by one and a half dachshunds, Smudge and Sausage.

I am a pet and animal photographer who is unapologetic about my love of dogs, and have come around to being fond of cats despite being allergic.

I enjoy their varied personalities and love to reveal their unique characters through pet portraiture.

Having loved and lost dogs all my life I am keenly aware of the great joy and grief that people experience in their relationships with pets.

I consider my work to be developed in collaboration with my canine or feline subjects and their families. That does not mean your pet needs to be on their best behaviour – they just need to be themselves.

I’ve worked extensively in supporting animal rescue groups through a group called ShutterPaws, so I’m familiar with working with dogs and cats that have behavioural quirks.

I am more likely to remember your dog or cat’s name than yours, and more likely to pick them out of a line-up.

I’m a book lover, puzzle solver, sci-fi fan and more of a listener than a talker.
